Dog rescue ramps up when a surprise visitor makes all the difference
Odessa, Ukraine – A dog lover who has become known for rescuing pups in Ukraine has struck again, and her patience has scored a huge win.
Olena, who runs the popular YouTube account Love Furry Friends, posted another amazing rescue that has warmed the hearts of over 100,000 viewers.
In the clip, she explained that she and her animal welfare team had been trying to help a poor dog who lived by herself at a gas station her whole life.
"We have been coming here for six months to feed her and gain her trust," the video's captions explained.
Whenever Olena tried to approach the female pup, she began to hide under cars and would not approach the volunteers.
The stray has had to survive the war waging on in Ukraine alone on the street, and most likely turned to the station even more as a place of rescue.
Finally, after six unsuccessful months, Olena met a man at the gas station who mowed the surrounding lawn from time to time. In a surprise, the dog took to him right away, as he explained he has known the dog since she was a puppy.
"He told us that her name is Nyusha. She is 4 years old," Oleana wrote.
They also found out she had given birth to puppies several times. Although many had died, some had been rescued and adopted by customers of the gas station.
Now, it was time for Nyusha's amazing rescue too.
A dog gets a happy ending after a long rescue journey
Since Nyusha trusted the gardener so much, it was easy for him to pick up the animal, and hand him over to Olena's team to get help.
The team had to continue earning the pup's trust with food and petting.
Eventually, they were able to bathe her, bring her to a vet, get her vaccinated, and have her treated for parasites.
After a good scrub and some time around her new friendly faces, she was as good as new.
A family is now said to have expressed interest in giving a permanent home to the four-legged friend, so Nyusha may be getting a happy ending that's been a long-time coming.
