Border collie melts hearts after sweet reunion with kitten friends
Phoebe the dog had to be separated from baby cats Grayvy and Biscuit for 10 days because she had an infection. When they were finally allowed to see each other again, their reunion couldn't have been sweeter.
The pets' owner Aki Yamaguchi had to keep the animals separated for more than a week. They could only see each other through windows during that time.
Finally, after 10 days apart, a TikTok video shows the long-awaited reunion. While Phoebe looks ecstatic to see her friends again, the kittens run away.
Apparently, the kitties have forgotten that they had already made friends with the border collie. Perhaps because they couldn't smell the pup during their time apart, they seem unfamiliar with the large fluff ball wagging her tail at them.
Fortunately, the clip, which has garnered millions of clicks, has a happy ending. The baby cats slowly start getting closer to the dog.
Biscuit seems to remember Phoebe better, but Grayvy also finally takes heart and starts approaching the dog again.
Soon the three furry friends can be seen playing and snuggling again – just like old times!
Phoebe and the cats gradually grow accustomed to each other again
While Phoebe, Biscuit, and Grayvy defy the conventional understanding that dogs and cats don't get along, their story carries an important lesson.
Animal experts warn that people should make efforts to prevent their dogs from scaring their cats, even if the pup is used to living with other kitties. It's important that dogs and cats gradually get acquainted with one another if they want to be friends.
Yamaguchi followed that advice. Phoebe was restrained before the kittens dared approach her again.
Because their reintroduction was treated with patience and caution, harmony has been restored to the household, and the three pets are happy as can be.
