America's Next Top Dog? Amazing pooch walks his way to internet fame
Ouray, Colorado - Dexter, a six-year-old Brittany Spaniel, always turns heads when he's out on a walk, as he marches through Ouray, Colorado on only two legs. However, the reason for his extravagant walking style is tragic.
Tyra Banks and Rita Ora's America's Next Top Model contestants could learn a thing or two from this strutting pooch!
Dexter is so agile on his two hind legs that he elevates dog swag to a whole new level.
However, his unique style is actually the consequence of a devastating stroke of fate.
After a horrific accident in 2016, when the animal was struck by a truck, one of the Brittany Spaniel's two front legs had to be amputated.
Dexter's owner Kentee Pasek told Dailypaws that she remembers everything like it was yesterday.
Being the true fighter that he is, Dexter never lost faith in himself and grew accustomed to walking on his two hind legs. And since practice makes perfect, he gets around almost exclusively that way.
He has long since won over the people of Ouray, as well as the internet.
"Everyone in town knows him. In fact, they know him now more than they know us," Pasek said.
The family has already lost two dogs. "I couldn't put another dog down without giving it a shot," she admitted, adding that she incredibly grateful for the vet, who was clearly up to the task.
He amputated Dexter's right front leg and implanted pins in his left. The poor dog then needed several surgeries and a lot of physical therapy.
