A real subwoofer! Deaf dog learns to bark and wows millions on TikTok
North Carolina - Instead of letting her impairment get her down, one clever dog has found a unique way of interacting with the world – and has gone viral on TikTok to boot.
Last month, little Reese was adopted by Samantha Ramos and her husband Julian.
As the North Carolina couple already had experience with animals, they quickly noticed that this four-legged friend was different.
"She didn’t seem responsive to anything I was saying," Ramos told The Dodo.
"We suspected that she was deaf. I brought it up to the vet, and the vet confirmed it."
The diagnosis allowed Ramos to breathe a sigh of relief, as she was finally able to adapt her training to Reese's lack of hearing. It wasn't long before the pup was able to do her first tricks.
Yet there are some tricks you just can't teach.
One day, Ramos came home to see Reese and her other dog, Roxanne, playing in the living room. But she was amazed when Roxx started barking at her younger sister - and Reese responded right back.
The only difference was that Reese couldn't hear her furry sister, and no sound escaped.

Reese has become internet-famous for her silent bark
Reese had picked up the cute and clever trait of the "silent bark" from her older puppy pal.
The dogs' owner posted a video of the "#deafdog's" silent bark on TikTok, and it has since amassed over 33 million views.
"She’s mimicking what she sees other dogs do and to me that the most pure and precious thing," commented one TikToker. "She exists in a higher dimension and we can’t hear her," joked another.
"Who's gonna tell her," Ramos playfully captioned the clip.
Lo and behold, Ramos said that now Reese has "learned how to actually bark, but she goes back and forth between her silent and her loud bark."
You can't keep a good pup down!
