Chicago, Illinois – Package theft isn't an uncommon occurrence, but witnessing a furry four-legged burglar at work isn't something you see every day. One Chicago resident was lucky enough to catch the critter-crime on camera.

Having a package stolen from your front doorstep is usually an infuriating thing. But even the unfortunate victim of this particular burglary can't deny the sheer hilarity of the incident.

That's because the culprit involved happened to be a bushy-tailed squirrel.

Chicago resident Noemi Gutierrez was able to catch the fuzzy thief scurrying up to a neighbor's door, and swiftly snatching the package that had just been delivered.

The squirrel didn't just simply take it to a hideout in the tree it had come down for, either. It opted for a top secret and fairly inaccessible location: the tight gap between two buildings.

Gutierrez's footage shows the animal slinking away with the white package bigger than itself.

The squirrel then disappears from view, along with its haul.

In her Facebook post, Gutierrez wrote, "How crazy will my neighbor from across the street think I am, if I knock on the door and say 'Your package was stolen by a squirrel?' without showing him the video".

There's no word on whether anyone was able to find the squirrels secret stash and return the package.
