Cowabunga! Live cow washes up on shore and shocks beachgoers
Taree, Australia – Holy cow! This unlikely animal was found washed up on the beach in Australia on Saturday morning.
Despite surf warnings, one beached farm animal didn't seem to get the memo.
Pedestrians made the unbelievable sighting on Old Bar Beach near the town of Taree. It looked like the cow was going for a swim!
Twitter user DJ snapped photos of the animal and its incredible rescue.
"This lucky little girl chose the right beach to wash up on'," she captioned the pictures.
A group of volunteers from the Old Bar Taree Surf Life Saving Club successfully rescued the cow on Saturday and transported it back to a meadow.
But where did the confused bovine come from?
Torrential rainstorms have caused recent flooding across the region, according to the Daily Mail.
The historic weather event has destroyed homes, shut down highways, and warned beachgoers to stay out of the water. It has also wiped out farms and displaced livestock.
A herd of 22 cows was reported missing from a paddock in the region earlier this week.
Maybe the udders will also be found going for an amoosing swim.
Historic storms flood the Australian region
Thousands of residents in Taree and the surrounding suburbs in New South Wales have evacuated their homes because of the storms.
The Bureau of Meteorology issued a severe weather warning for heavy rain showers and life-threatening floods to continue throughout next week.
"This will be a deep-seated, extreme weather event," New South Wales Premier Gladys Berejiklian said.
Experts hope the rescued animal will be able to withstand the upcoming rain to remain safe in her paddock this time around.
Otherwise, the cow will have to go through the watershed "mooment" all over again!
