Cat makes millions cry in viral TikTok: "Furbabies are the best"
Toronto, Canada - A viral video of a cat left alone by its owner is giving users all the feels, and has been watched millions of times.
Elie "the hallway cat" has been captivating audiences on her Instagram and TikTok accounts.
But a recent clip has pulled at users' heartstrings more than most.
The four-year-old "flirt cat" from Toronto was left at home, and her owner decided to film what her furry friend was up to when spending time alone.
She then is seen pressing "record" on her camera, and leaving the house for what she said was 8 hours.
What happened next resonated with cat owners and viewers worldwide.
After the young woman closes the door behind her, the cat looks around to survey that her owner had actually left.
She then explores all around the front door, as if trying to see where her owner has gone. Elie even jumps up and paws and scratches at the door handle.
The video ends as she continues to sit looking at the door, waiting for her beloved owner to return.
"This makes me cry," the Canadian captioned the clip, adding, "I'm not leaving my cat ever again."
"Furbabies are the best," she declared.
The video has since been viewed on TikTok over 6 million times and counting.
Cat lovers have sympathized with the viral video on TikTok and Instagram
In the clip's comment section, many users expressed that their pets also have separation anxiety.
"Mine literally jumps and opens the door," one sympathized. "I say bye, and give them hugs n kiss them before leaving for work," wrote another. "But sometimes they whine for a long time."
"This is so sweet, but making me cry!" was the sentiment from most commenters.
Many also felt the kitty should have a playmate, which Elie's owner surprisingly confirmed in a follow-up vid.
"Elie has a sister named Paige," she reassured users, including more videos of the two cats playing together. "They are besties."
So users can wipe their tears: Elie probably didn't stay lonesome for long!
