Rescue cat has had a hard life, but TikTok makes him a superstar

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania - This poor cat had been living a real hard-knock life on the streets. Luckily, animal rescuers were able to nurse him back to health and he's now a bona fide TikTok star!

This poor feline's appearance show all the trials and tribulations he's been through. Scars both old and new cover the tomcat's body, and his story has touched the hearts of almost two million TikTok users.

In a now-viral clip, cat rescuer Lyd carefully approaches the traumatized fluffball so she can give him a few nice scratches.

"You can tell that this gentle soul has been hurt in the past, he seems so shut down and afraid of human touch," she wrote in the captions. "Life on the streets has clearly been unkind to him, but he's filly relearning what love is."

On the Oakland TNR Coalition Instagram page, the animal rescue organization shared the five-year-old feline's story.

Full of ticks and covered in wounds when he was picked off the streets, the scruffy cat also tested positive for FIV (feline immunodeficiency virus), and is missing a few teeth, and a nail.

This tomcat's rescuers' gave the animal more than just medical attention, love, and care – they also gave him a new name!

The organization let their Instagram followers make suggestions and vote for them, and as the submissions poured in, one pick was the clear winner: meet Waffle!

According to the organization, once Waffles is healthy enough, they'll try to find him a forever home. Until then, the orange tabby will get the sweet attention he's learned to love from Lyd and her coworkers at Oakland TNR Coalition.

In the meantime, Waffle is already a real TikTok sensation, with millions viewing and liking his clips!
