The animal, named Molly, probably got trapped in the hole during her owners' move from a house in the town of Glossop near Manchester.

Despite several searches, the cat could not be found by its owners, the British news agency PA reported on Tuesday. She never touched the food they left out for her.

It was not until weeks later that the new owner of the house heard meowing near a kitchen wall and called the RSPCA. When the animal welfare workers got stuck, they called the fire brigade, who removed several floorboards in the bathroom above the kitchen to free the cat.

She looked skinny but was otherwise healthy, an RSPCA worker said, according to the report.

The poor kitty has since been returned to its owners.
