Cat "dances" to '90s EDM hit and becomes a viral TikTok sensation
It's so easy to inspire people on the Internet! A TikTok video of a dancing cat is currently garnering millions of likes, but the song that has the little kitty swinging her paws is particularly crucial to the clip's success.
Funny cat videos have often gone viral, and that's exactly what happened to cute Ketty.
On the TikTok channel @thecatketty, the feline's owners recently published a video that has transformed their furry friend into an Internet celebrity.
In the clip, the cat is first seen sitting in front of a window outside and looking intently through the glass, only to suddenly stand on its hind paws and jump around like crazy. Because Ketty is fidgeting with her front paws against the glass, it almost looks as if she is dancing!
The scene's natural hilarity was then elevated due to the fact that the video features the song Sandstorm by Darude, an EDM hit from 1999 that was even nominated for an Echo award for being dance single of the year.
Within a week, the TikTok clip amassed more than 12.3 million views and 1.4 million likes, signalling that viewers obviously find the cat's dance interlude hilarious.
The "Dancing Cat" inspires TikTok
The internet's love for Ketty is evident in more than 10,600 comments under the video, in which users express their amusement. One user wrote, "This must be a '90s cat."
Another chimed in: "I'm not ashamed to admit how many times I've watched this video now, but it's been so many times I've lost count," while a different user added: "I dance to this song in much the same way."
Ketty is also known as the "Dancing Cat" or "Techno Cat" by her owners – a well-deserved nickname without question.
But Ketty's latest video isn't the first time she's been filmed getting her groove on.
The feline also dances to Savage Love by Jason Derulo and Jawsh 685, and sometimes to What Does The Fox Say? by Ylvis.
