Cat chat: Kitty regularly sends messages to her owner's coworkers
Kent, Ohio - When the coronavirus pandemic began and Kate had to start working from home, her cat Buffy rejoiced. Finally, Buffy could spend the whole day with her owner.
Over the past year and a half, Kate and her cat have developed a real routine. Buffy kicks off the work day by sitting with her owner for about ten minutes before she decides she's worked enough and runs off.
Naturally, Buffy thinks office work can be monotonous. So she has made it her mission to provide a little variety by chatting to Kate's colleagues.
Sure, she may lack opposable thumbs, but that's no obstacle to typing messages. Buffy just jumps up on the desk and then softly saunters across the laptop keyboard.
"I often have Microsoft Teams open for work, so she will end up typing a long string of gibberish and then accidentally step on the 'enter' key, which sends the nonsensical message off to my coworkers," Kate told The Dodo.
All Kate can do is laugh and shake her head at the cat's antics, while coworkers enjoy some workplace banter.
Cat's chat messages make coworkers laugh
Buffy loves the attention and this is her way of being part of Kate's work day.
Far from an annoyance, the feline messages are often a paw-sitive development in the day: "As long as she is not messing with actual work, it’s harmless fun and could be a turning point in someone’s day."
"My coworkers find it amusing and always respond by laughing or sending her a message back."
Overall, Buffy's nonsensical interventions have been a great addition to the workplace atmosphere.
"It’s funny, and it brings a smile to my coworkers' faces," Kate said.
She added, "I know if one of my coworkers' cats sent me a message, I’d find it adorable."
