Cat causes comical Christmas tree makeover on TikTok
Bridgewater, UK - A TikToker was sick of her cat climbing up her seven-foot tall Christmas tree and playing with the decorations. Her solution is ingenious, hiss-terical – and hopefully cat-proof.
As December rolled in, a cat owner decided she'd already had enough – and the time had come to give her Christmas tree a radial makeover because of her festive but feisty feline.
TikTok user Stephene Violet posted a clip of her grumpily and comically packing away branches of her faux tree and explaining why she was redecorating.
"Steph, Christmas hasn't even started yet, why you putting your Christmas tree away?" she asks the camera.
As the caption of the vid reveals, "LOLA 1 - 0 STEPH."
Lola is, of course, the TikToker's adorable black and brown speckled cat, who's to blame for the much-needed change in decor. As previous videos show, the cat kept climbing up Steph's tree and pulling off decorations.
"I need help!" Steph lamented.
But the cat owner didn't just give up and pack everything in.
She instead transformed her tree using an amusing trick.
Viral TikTok shows cat is to blame for a hysterical Christmas tree makeover
In Steph's newest video, she revealed that she decided to dismantle the bottom half of the seven-foot tree, leaving only the trunk and the top intact. The hope is that the animal won't be able to get to the still decorated top half without the lower branches.
One commenter dubbed her creative cat climbing solution as a "miniskirt Christmas tree." Or, "naked" on the bottom.
Steph is clearly proud of her hopefully cat-proof solution.
In the clip she, sings, "Oh Christmas Tree" while showing off her half dismantled decoration, but adds, "If she gets up there, I just don't know what to do."
The video has gone viral, with more than 500,000 views and counting.
The comment section is full of laughing emojis, while some social media users sympathized with Steph. They shared that their felines also tore down their own festive decorations or caused owners to change course in decor.
"This made me die with laughter. I feel your pain...I'm not even bothering with a tree this year, mine chews the lights as well," one user wrote.
Still others continued to share their own unique solutions for keeping pets out of their trees. Some suggested putting orange-scented things, or actual peels, in the tree, or covering the base with tinfoil.
Hopefully this TikToker's half naked-tree solution works, and will last the whole season long.
